Community Outreach at Cairnhill CC

There will be 3 upcycling workshops conducted in collaboration with some of our partners as well as having a finale event at Cairnhill CC.

Week 1: Upcycled Zipper Pouches Workshop

With guidance from the very talented Lee Sin from WahSoSimple, our participants made their very own zipper pouches from food packaging. Food packaging makes up about 1/3 of household waste generated in Singapore and is generally not recyclable. Thus, upcycling it into a zipper pouch is a great way to reduce trash that ends up in our landfills.

Week 2: Eco-enzyme Workshop

For our second workshop, participants learnt how to make eco-enzyme from Joyce, the founder of the Eco Green Living and Garbage Enzyme Facebook Group. Making this eco-enzyme reduces food waste in Singapore as well as any chemical detergents that might enter water bodies.

For our third and last workshop at Cairnhill CC, participants learnt how to upcycle their old and unwanted t-shirts into bags. With the help of Lily Han, an eco-knight with a great passion for upcycling, participants had a great time! Making t-shirt bags not only reduces your need for plastic bags, but it also reduces the number of t-shirts that end up incinerated.
