5 reasons why you should be at UP Fest 2018

UP Fest 2018 will be happening this Saturday at Cairnhill CC from 3 - 7PM. Here are 5 reasons why you should be there:

1. Singapore’s first family upcycling festival

Saving the environment is a shared responsibility and everyone has an important role to play. The best way is probably to start from within, educate them, and learn from young! We will be having free carnival games, alongside upcycling booths and workshops - no better way to a fun and educational afternoon of activities.

2. Learn different types of upcycling We have probably done some forms of upcycling when we were younger, perhaps by reusing plastic bottles during art classes. But upcycling is more than that, we could also make use of other waste materials such as food waste, textile and wood to create innovative and practical upcycled products.

3. BYO Reusables for free food & coffee Who can say no to food (think popcorn, candy floss and artisanal coffee)? But remember to bring along your own reusables such as utensils, tumblers! Aligned to our goal of reducing waste, we would not be providing any plastic or paper disposables. FYI we would also be upcycling used coffee grounds from the event for composting! How cool is that?

4. Be part of an art installation Here’s your chance to be part of the upcoming Singapore Urban Design Festival, simply by donating used plastic bags! In support of WY-TO, we will be collecting and upcycling them to create seats and bracelets for the festival. Learn more about their project here.
